Introducing a pain management programme that works with you, for your pet
Hi, I’m Carole and I’ve been a practising veterinary surgeon for over 20 years.
After using acupuncture in my general practice work for some time I recently left practice to pursue my passion for helping animals with chronic pain in their own homes, using acupuncture.
Treating animals in their home enables me to go slowly, building a relationship with pets and their owners, finding out what they are really struggling with and helping them with safe, evidence- based therapies and lifestyle changes.
I work on referral from your primary vet to ensure a continuity of care and keep communication channels open as much as possible to give your pet the greatest benefit of a team approach to their care.
What does the programme include?
This programme aims to inform and give you the resources to support your pet so that their pain is controlled and their quality of life the best it can be. Every animal is different and every owner’s expectations and relationship with their pet is individual, so I will work with you to find out what works best for your and your pet in your circumstances:
- four home visits
- medical and lifestyle assessment – how is your pet coping? what other conditions are relevant to their quality of life?
- medication & nutrition review – what’s working, what could be improved?
- acupuncture treatment as appropriate
- home environment assessment – can we make it a safer place for your pet to get around?
- caregiver support – what are your biggest concerns? how can I empower you to help your pet more?
- follow up telephone support if required
