About Carole

I’m Carole, I’ve been a general practice vet for 20 years and a member of the Association of British Veterinary Acupuncturists since 2016.

Having experienced the efficacy of acupuncture for my own aches and pains I jumped at the opportunity to train in veterinary acupuncture in 2016 and offer the benefits of a safe, effective drug-free treatment to the many painful pets I was seeing come into my clinic.

Having treated several canine, feline and rabbit patients over the years I found the ongoing interactions with clients and the steady improvements I saw from treatment so satisfying I thought “I want to do more of this; more pets should have access to this!” So in 2021 I set up PetTherapy Veterinary Acupuncture & Integrated Pain Management – an independent mobile acupuncture service so that wherever clients are registered they can access affordable acupuncture treatment for their pets in their own homes.

In 2024 I am broadening my work to offer a ‘pain clinic at home’ referral service which encompasses many aspects that impact on the life of a pet living with chronic pain – from the home environment to other medical conditions, social and emotional factors plus support for the pet owner that acknowledges that caring for a pet with a chronic illness can be a considerable burden.

If you’d like to know more about what treatment involves or whether it is right for your pet, drop me a message via the contact page or watch the video here to see how Tilly the Labrador coped with her first acupuncture session.

I look forward to sharing the benefits of acupuncture with you and helping your pet to live their fullest life!

Values

Accessibility

I believe in making acupuncture an accessible treatment option for as many pets as possible, so I keep my fees affordable and in most cases these will be covered by pet insurance.

Compassion

I believe in treating pets with respect and compassion, making their emotional as well as physical health my highest priority, which is why I am a certified Dog Friendly vet and adhere to fear-free handling of all pets.

Collaboration

I will always collaborate with you, the pet owner, to ensure you feel you are making the best decisions for your pet - if that means acupuncture is not right for them, that’s fine. You will never be pushed into unnecessary or unaffordable treatment.

Conscientiousness

I am always aiming to make as little an impact on our planetary home as possible, I am certified Carbon Literate and am always striving for more ways to reduce my carbon footprint.
