Sometimes it is hard to detect problems with a dog's mobility as they are masters of adaptation. They will change their posture and gait to allow them to still do the things they love, and it can take careful watching on the part of an owner or health professional to spot those signs. What do you notice about Holly's gait at the end of this video?
Do you notice the 'bunny hops'? Bunny hops mean for some reason Holly feels the need to restrict the movement in her hips or back muscles and is using her other muscles in her legs ('inappropriate recruitment') so propel her forward.
This was the first time she had done it as far as my parents were aware and we put it down to being cooped up in a campervan for 6 hours.
I'm pleased to say she had one acupuncture session and hasn't bunny hopped since!
